British Queen celebrates

Marston's, the renowned British pub group, has witnessed a notable boost in like-for-like sales during the 16 weeks ending on July 22. The company attributes this surge to strong demand for

its beverages and food offerings, driven by the unusually warm summer months. Compared to the financial year 2022, Marston's recorded an impressive 10.9% increase in sales during this period.

The heatwave in the UK encouraged people to seek refuge in local pubs and bars, contributing to the higher footfall and increased spending on drinks and meals.

Interestingly, during the May bank holidays and King Charles' coronation celebrations, UK households opted to reduce spending at food retailers and instead indulged in dining out at restaurants.

Marston's foresees a more positive outlook on input costs in financial year 2024 and remains confident in its ability to navigate potential consumer headwinds effectively.

Customer demand has remained consistently strong for Marston's, as evidenced by the 10.7% rise in sales during the 42 weeks leading up to July 22.

However, the Wolverhampton-based pub chain has not declared any dividends since 2020, citing ongoing macroeconomic challenges. Despite this, the company's robust sales performance indicates its resilience in adapting to market conditions and catering to consumer preferences.
