British Queen celebrates

Six distinguished individuals have been selected to receive honorary degrees from the University of Oxford this year. At the upcoming Encaenia ceremony, the following recipients will be

honored: Warren East, Sir Demis Hassabis, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sir Michael Palin, Anoushka Shankar, and Professor Salim Yusuf.

Warren East, a British engineer and businessperson, holds multiple accolades for his contributions to the technology industry. He currently serves in various capacities, including as a non-executive director at Tokamak Energy and an Executive in Residence at the Saïd Business School at Oxford.

Sir Demis Hassabis, a renowned computer scientist and artificial intelligence researcher, is celebrated for his groundbreaking work as co-founder and CEO of Google DeepMind. He has been instrumental in pioneering AI advancements, including the development of AlphaGo and AlphaFold.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organization, is recognized for her significant contributions to economics and global governance. She is the first woman and the first African to hold this prestigious position, reflecting her remarkable leadership and expertise.

Sir Michael Palin, an esteemed actor, comedian, writer, and television presenter, has captivated audiences with his diverse talents and adventurous spirit. He has been honored for his contributions to travel, culture, and geography, as demonstrated through his acclaimed travel documentaries and literary works.

Anoushka Shankar, a celebrated musician and composer, has garnered international acclaim for her mastery of the sitar and her advocacy for social causes. She has received numerous awards and nominations for her musical achievements and humanitarian efforts.

Professor Salim Yusuf, a distinguished cardiologist and epidemiologist, has made significant contributions to cardiovascular research and public health over the course of his illustrious career. His groundbreaking work has earned him numerous awards and honors, recognizing his profound impact on the field.

The Encaenia ceremony provides a fitting platform to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of these exceptional individuals.
