British Queen celebrates

On Saturday, Arsenal demonstrated their title credentials with an emphatic 4-1 win over Leeds United, matching Manchester City's result against Liverpool earlier in the day. The Gunners took

another step closer to their first Premier League title in almost 20 years with a dominant display at the Emirates Stadium.

While Manchester City managed to beat Liverpool without the services of Erling Haaland, Arsenal relied on their front line to secure victory over a resilient Leeds side. Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 16th minute with a powerful header, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled their lead from close range just before half-time.

Leeds United came out fighting in the second half and managed to pull a goal back through Pascal Struijk's header, but Arsenal responded immediately with a stunning goal from Bukayo Saka. The 20-year-old winger cut in from the left and curled an unstoppable shot into the top corner to restore the Gunners' two-goal lead.

Emile Smith Rowe put the icing on the cake for Arsenal with a fourth goal in injury time, rounding off a fine team performance and sending a clear message to their title rivals.

After the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his side's resilience and character, stating that they had shown "real hunger and desire" to win the game. He also singled out Saka for special praise, describing him as a "special talent" and a player who can make a difference in any game.

Meanwhile, Manchester City's impressive win over Liverpool saw them move into second place in the Premier League table, just three points behind Arsenal with a game in hand. Goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling secured a comfortable victory for Pep Guardiola's side, who have now won their last 14 games in all competitions.

Despite the absence of Haaland, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury, City were able to dominate the game and showcase their attacking prowess. Gundogan opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a clinical finish, before Foden doubled their lead with a powerful shot from outside the box.

De Bruyne added a third just before half-time with a stunning free-kick, before Sterling completed the rout with a well-placed finish in the second half. Liverpool's only goal of the game came from Mohamed Salah's penalty in the 63rd minute, but it was a mere consolation for the Reds, who were outplayed by City for most of the match.

The win puts Manchester City firmly back in the title race, with Guardiola's side looking like serious contenders for a fifth Premier League crown. While Arsenal remain in pole position, they will be aware of the threat posed by City and will need to maintain their impressive form if they are to hold on to their lead at the top of the table.

Overall, it was a weekend of statement victories for both Arsenal and Manchester City, as they sent a clear message to the rest of the Premier League that they are the teams to beat this season. With the title race heating up and several other sides still in contention, it promises to be a thrilling end to the season. Photo by Ank kumar, Wikimedia commons.
