The QS World University Rankings for 2024 have been released, with European universities securing half of the top 10 spots. For the 12th consecutive year, the Massachusetts Institute of

Technology (MIT) in the United States claimed the top position with a perfect score. The University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford in the UK followed closely behind in second and third place, respectively.

English-speaking universities dominated the upper ranks, excelling in categories such as academic reputation, employer reputation, and faculty-to-student ratio. The rankings consider nine crucial metrics, including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, and international research network, among others.

Notably, between 2018 and 2024, the representation of Asian, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and African universities in the rankings increased significantly. China, as the world's largest producer of research, saw a marked rise in the rankings, driven by the quality and citation impact of its research.

European universities continued to excel in global engagement, with several prominent EU institutions showcasing strength in international research collaboration.

Overall, the QS World University Rankings reflect the evolving landscape of higher education, with increasing focus on employability, research collaborations, and sustainability.
