Bulstrode Park, an exquisite 17th-century estate located in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, has been listed for sale with a price tag of £6 million. This historic property has gained fame as the

filming location for renowned TV series Midsomer Murders and popular films such as Maleficent and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Dating back to 1686, Bulstrode Park offers a rich history, having once been the residence of the infamous Judge Jeffreys, also known as the 'Hanging Judge'. The estate is conveniently situated just 40 minutes away from central London, making it an attractive destination.

Spread across nearly 40 acres of land, the property comprises twelve distinct buildings, including a Grade II-listed Pigeon Tower. It was previously owned by the 12th Duke of Somerset, Edward Seymour, who commissioned the mansion's completion in 1865. During World War I, the estate served as Bulstrode Park Military Hospital, providing medical treatment to over 260 patients in 52 beds. Later, it served as the training headquarters for the Women's Auxiliary Air Force during World War II.

The estate's previous owner acquired the property in 2013 and obtained planning permission to transform it into a luxury hotel boasting 43 rooms, including Royal Suites, a 120-cover restaurant, and a spa. However, it is now being offered for sale. Amy Selfe, Senior Surveyor at Landwood Group, predicts a swift sale, stating that this remarkable estate, with its captivating history and idyllic setting, holds immense potential. It can be transformed into various purposes, such as a hotel, a luxury care home, or a prestigious family residence for a fortunate buyer. Photo by Maypm, Wikimedia commons.
