British Queen celebrates

A Pablo Picasso painting scheduled to be exhibited in London is expected to fetch over £98 million ($120 million) at auction.

The 1932 masterpiece by Picasso, titled "Femme A La Montre," portrays his "golden muse," Marie-Therese Walter, a woman who served as the subject of numerous paintings by the renowned artist.

The artwork has been in the possession of art patron and collector Emily Fisher Landau.

As part of an exhibition featuring various paintings from Ms. Fisher Landau's collection, the Picasso masterpiece will be showcased at Sotheby's.

Ms. Fisher Landau acquired the Picasso painting in 1968, marking the beginning of her art collecting journey.

Pablo Picasso, a Spanish painter, is widely recognized as one of the most significant artists of the 20th century. Born in 1881, he grew up in Barcelona before relocating to Paris in 1904. Throughout his long career, Picasso experimented with a wide range of styles and themes, most notably contributing to the development of 'Cubism.' He had four children and passed away in 1973 at the age of 92.

The collection also includes works by other artists, such as American painter and sculptor Jasper Johns, Dutch-American artist Willem de Kooning, and American painter and printmaker Robert Rauschenberg.

Rauschenberg's 1962 silkscreen painting, "Sundog," is expected to be sold for an estimated price ranging from $8 million to $12 million.

Additionally, the exhibition features paintings by Edward Ruscha and Andy Warhol, both closely associated with the pop art movement.

The traveling exhibition is scheduled to open in Paris, Taipei, and Los Angeles, having previously been showcased in Dubai and Hong Kong.

The entire collection, estimated to be worth well over £327 million ($400 million), will be available for sale at Sotheby's New York in November. Photo by Argentina. Revista Vea y Lea, Wikimedia commons.
