The University of Oxford has once again cemented its status as a global academic leader, being named the best in the UK for 10 subjects in the newly released 2026 Complete University Guide
rankings.
These annual rankings assess UK universities based on key criteria such as student satisfaction, graduate prospects, and research quality. Oxford stands out this year, leading in a diverse range of disciplines.
The 10 top-ranked subjects at Oxford include:
- African and Middle Eastern Studies
- Anthropology
- Asian Studies
- Business & Management Studies
- Computer Science
- Geography and Environmental Studies
- Materials Technology
- Russian and East European Languages
- Psychology
- Politics
Earlier in the year, Oxford was also recognized in the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings, placing first globally in Medicine for the 14th year in a row, and in Computer Science for the seventh consecutive year.
In addition, the QS World University Rankings 2025, released in March, saw Oxford lead globally in English Language and Literature, Anatomy and Physiology, and Geography. The Faculty of English has held the top position for nine years, while the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics has led for six.
