British Queen celebrates

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, accompanied by her husband, Bill Clinton, is scheduled to speak at Swansea University, addressing the topic of leadership. The event aims to delve

into leadership discussions pertinent to forthcoming generations.

Hillary Clinton, who has often acknowledged her Welsh lineage, will share the stage with the former US president to explore facets of effective leadership. The event will also feature Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford and Swansea University's vice-chancellor, Paul Boyle.

In her autobiography, Clinton has highlighted her father's background, tracing his ancestry to a lineage of coal miners. She has specifically mentioned her paternal great-grandmother, Mary Griffiths, hailing from Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, and her great-grandfather, John Jones, from Llangynidr, Powys. Her grandmother was born in Pennsylvania, an area where numerous Welsh miners and their families settled during the 19th century.

Moreover, Clinton's maternal lineage traces back to Pembrokeshire, further reinforcing her strong ties to Welsh ancestry. Photo by Nigel Davies, Wikimedia commons.
