British Queen celebrates

Nearly half of Scotland's schools have not undergone inspection in the past decade, according to new figures obtained through Freedom of Information requests. The data revealed that only

57% of state schools and 54% of independent schools, amounting to 1,083 schools in total, were inspected over the last ten years. The Scottish Conservatives criticized the statistics, describing them as "completely unacceptable," especially as schools are grappling with issues such as the attainment gap and increasing classroom violence.

The opposition party called for a regular and reliable inspection system to keep parents informed about their child's school performance and help schools identify areas for improvement. The figures highlight concerns about transparency and accountability in Scotland's education system. Photo by dalbera from Paris, France, Wikimedia commons.
