British Queen celebrates

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle were seen on the red carpet in Kingston, Jamaica, attending the premiere of a film celebrating the life of iconic musician

Bob Marley. The royal couple posed for photos with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who has been accelerating plans to transition the Caribbean nation into a republic.

During their 2022 tour to the Caribbean, Prime Minister Holness informed Prince William and Kate Middleton that Jamaica was progressing towards becoming an independent and developed country, moving away from the constitutional monarchy.

The royal couple was also photographed with Marlene Malahoo Forte, Jamaica's minister of legal and constitutional affairs, at the premiere of "One Love." Ms. Malahoo Forte had previously mentioned the possibility of Jamaica holding a referendum as early as this year to become a republic, severing ties with the British monarchy.

Jamaica's ambition to break from the monarchy and draft a new constitution was further emphasized by Ms. Malahoo Forte, who shared that the country was looking to have its own president instead of a monarch as the head of state.

The appearance of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the film premiere aligns with Jamaica's growing push for independence, making significant strides in national development. As the nation considers its constitutional future, the royal couple's presence adds a unique dimension to the ongoing dialogue about Jamaica's path to becoming a republic.
