British Member of Parliament Patrick Spencer has been charged with two counts of sexual assault involving two women, according to a statement released Tuesday by London’s Metropolitan
Police.
The charges stem from alleged incidents that took place in 2023 at the Groucho Club, a private members' venue in central London. Spencer, 37, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on June 16.
Spencer, who represents the Central Suffolk and North Ipswich constituency, was elected during the 2024 general election as a member of the Conservative Party, which currently sits in opposition.
Following the charges, the Conservative Party announced Spencer's immediate suspension, stating he will no longer represent the party in Parliament. Photo by Laurie Noble, Wikimedia commons.
