British police have made a second arrest in their investigation into a series of arson attacks targeting properties connected to Prime Minister Keir Starmer in North London. The arrest comes
just a day after a 21-year-old Ukrainian man was charged in relation to the same incidents.
Authorities confirmed on Saturday that a 26-year-old suspect was detained at London’s Luton Airport on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. The arrest relates to the same three incidents involving properties tied to Starmer.
On Friday, Roman Lavrynovych appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. The charges stem from three separate fires that occurred last week.
One of the fires took place at Starmer’s private residence in Kentish Town, within the north London constituency he represents. While no injuries were reported, the property’s entrance sustained damage. Forensic teams were seen examining the site.
Lavrynovych was arrested a day after the Kentish Town blaze. He is also accused of starting a fire at the entrance of an apartment building in nearby Islington and setting fire to a Toyota RAV4 in Kentish Town on separate days.
According to court proceedings, all the targeted locations and the vehicle had ties to Prime Minister Starmer. Due to the involvement of a high-profile political figure, the case is being handled by counter-terrorism officers. Photo by Cheeseburger296, Wikimedia commons.
